The Whytecliff building consists of 184 suites and is known as Strata Corporation VR399. Constructed in 1976, the building has 17 floors with 6 two bedroom and 5 one bedroom units per floor. Situated on the bank of the Capilano River, the building is oriented for a north and south exposure. The corner suites are all two bedroom with a size ranging from 843 to 864 square feet. There are two smaller, two-bedroom plans of 761 square feet found on the north side. Four of the one-bedroom floor plans are found on the south side, with sizes of 587 to 613 square feet. The one north facing one bedroom plan is 531 square feet. Due to the south exposure, all of the suites on this side receive the most sunlight and as floor height increases, exceptional city and water views are possible. The north side is popular for residents who enjoy mountain views and being cooler in the summer months. This building has recently finished replacing their hot water risers and branch lines on a phased basis. In 2004 the owners renovated all the building common areas to a high standard. The underground parking areas were repainted at that time. In 2006, Whytecliff renovated the P1 and P2 common areas and the laundry room. In 2008, the owners approved a flooring replacement on the P3 level and the renovation of the Whirlpool, Saunas and Change Rooms. During 2009 the exterior of the building was be pressure washed and some balcony spalling repairs were completed. Percentage of rental suites is 40% as of April 2010. There is no restriction on rentals but all two-bedroom suites are limited to 3 residents. One-bedroom suites may have two residents. The Whytecliff building shares recreation facilities with the Seymour building.
