COMMUNITY SERVICE
As of July 1, 2010 we now have the 12% Harmonized Sales Tax (HST). HST
does NOT apply to resale homes, only to new or substantially renovated homes.
When buying any home the 12% HST will be charged on a range of services
including: closing costs such as appraisals and home inspections; moving costs
and REALTOR® commissions. These services were subject to the 5% GST prior
to July 1st.
Buyers of new homes that are to be their primary residence may be eligible for
the provincial New Housing Rebate. This rebate would mean that new homes up
to $525,000 would result in no HST tax being paid. For further information,
